William Henley Soper Jr

May 3, 1951 — Sep 4, 2026

On the morning of Friday September 4th 2026, we said goodbye to my husband and best friend, Bill Soper, William H. Soper Jr., of Blue Ridge, and Arlington Virginia. Bill Passed away peacefully at his home, with his wife Karen of over 50 years, his son Will, and Daughter in law Jolaine Soper by his side. Bill had Lung and Heart disease, which slowed him down, and took him away from us, Bill was 75.

Bill spent his working years in Medical Imaging, which he introduced to his son Will, where he grew to become a Service Engineer in medical imaging, and prolonged Bill's life by designing ways to provide Bill more and more Oxygen then generally can be provided to patients. Bill fought his condition with his beloved wife, and family by his side with the strength and grace uncommon in many, Bill fought till his very last breath.

Bill was into many hobbies and passions in his life, his love for traveling, fast cars, and good BBQ was well known. Few people knew that Bill spent time with his son Will working as a volunteer Firefighter, where Bill was part of the action, driving the Fire Engines, responding to calls alongside his son Will. Some of the most special memories were made between them on the side of the road.

Bill was everything to his family, and his family was everything to him. His love for his wife Karen, his son Will, his Daughter In law Jolaine, and their adopted daughter Evelynn, was unmistakable. You could just see Bill's eyes light up when his family entered the room. Bill's passion for life was driven by his love for his close family, love for life.

Bill's wife and best friend, Karen, gave her all for Bill while he was ill, asking little for herself. Though Karen asked little for herself, she gave immeasurably to Bill. Bill could not believe how strong Karen became during his illness, which made his love for Karen that much more.

Bill also loved his pets, two dogs, and his 6 cats. Bill and Karen took all of their pets with them when traveling wherever they would go. Bill and Karen loved taking their pets on adventures in their motorhome. Bill and Karen continued to live their life the best way they could, one day at a time!

Bill, you were and are Loved by so many, an amazing Father, Husband, Friend, A true Legend in your own way! Fly high with the Lord, we will take it from here. We will always have a good drink waiting on you.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Soper Sr, Nancy E. Soper, and Sister Naomi Lynn Farrell. Bill is survived by his wife Karen, his only son William, his Daughter in law Jolaine (who he thought of as his own Daughter), His adopted granddaughter Evelynn, His brothers Charlie, Theodore ( Ted ) , and sister Celeste. As well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.A celebration of life will be held at a future date and time at the Boterourt Funeral Home 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, VA 24066.
