“ For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know
in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known” – 1 Corinthians
12:13
On August 25 th 2022, William Alexander Schafer, 72, of Natural Bridge, Virginia
met his savior Jesus Christ face to face. Born to Ruth I. Schafer and Robert E.
Schafer, William followed in his father’s footsteps with a career in law
enforcement, which would spark a lifelong interest in the law.
William loved Jesus, and could often be found studying his bible in the early
morning or late evening. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially his time on the
Appalachian Trail and the Blue Ridge parkway. His hobbies included photography,
beer making, wood working, and computer programing. He loved hiking with his
family, and traveling with his wife, the lovely Michele. He could always be
counted on to help whenever called. His love for his family ran deeply and his
presence will be greatly missed.
William is survived by his wife, their children William R. Schafer, Brian Schafer,
Kimberly Kinney, Wendy Davis, Thomas Ulip, Carry Stockton, Ruth Schafer Jr., Joy
Dudley, and a plethora grandchildren.
