Walter Lee Lowry Blackiston "Larry", 70, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020. Loving husband, father, and Papaw, he was born on October 10, 1949 to the late Walter, Sr. and Margaret "Peggy" Blackiston. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brother, Dan. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lydia; daughters and sons-in-law, Leslie and Christopher Steves; Ashley and Brian Matre; two beautiful grandchildren, Grace and Liam Matre; sister-in-law, Ann Daniel; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey "Hal" and Angela; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a decorated two war veteran, serving in the Navy and Army. A master electrician by trade but loved gardening with his grandchildren. He was very proud of Leslie and Ashley and adored Grace and Liam. Memorial services will be held 11am on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Trinity United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior the service downstairs in the church's fellowship hall. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Church.
