Vara Marie Hickman Dudley

Vara Hickman Dudley, 81, of Botetourt County, passed

away Saturday, March 23, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Erskin

“Nochie” Dudley; son, Alvin Dudley; parents, John and

Mary Hickman; brother, Leonard Hickman; sisters, Nadine

Painter and Nancy Johns; nephew, Wayne Hickman; and

son-in-law, Gary St. Clair.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Brenda St.

Clair and Gaynelle and John “Buck” Higgins; special

“daughter” Kathy Ray; grandchildren, Gracie Higgins,

Marlena McCullough, Angela Higgins and Frankie

“Bubba” Higgins; great-grandchildren, BJ and Norman

Irvine, Joseph Heater, Lacey Lawhorne, Bethany Eastburn,

Chevy Esquire, Matthew and Danielle Higgins, and Jerry

Link; brother, Carson “Pete” Hickman; sisters, Joyce and

Tinker Dudley, Jane Powell, and Chrstine Grishaw;

numerous nieces and nephews; special dog, Missy; and

special friends Cleatus Lester, Ted Fowler and Patsy

Landes.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March

28, at Botetourt Funeral Home in Buchanan. Funeral

services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 29, in the

Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home officiated by

the Rev. Michael Tabor and the Rev. Kevin James.

Interment will follow in Deacon Cemetery.
