Samuel Reid Linkenhoker

Samuel Reid "Sam" Linkenhoker, one day shy of 80, of Buchanan, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Helen McDaniel Linkenhoker; brother, Jerry Linkenhoker; sisters; Norma Jernell and Hazel Linkenhoker; son, Sammy Linkenhoker, and grandson, Chuck Moore. Sam had retired as Superintendent of VDOT Buchanan with over 33 years of service. He loved gardening, camping, hunting and fishing, the Lottery, and anything Elvis Presley. Sam is survived by wife of 61 years, Charlotte Farrell Linkenhoker; daughters and son-in-law, Wendy Linkenhoker, Missy and Wendell Childress; grandchildren, Samantha L. and Ben Ronk, Jennifer L. and Ben "Sushi" Wilson, Courtney Moore and Billy Richmond, Chris Boxley; great grandchildren, Leon Richmond, Will and Rachel Ronk, Annabelle and Raelynn Wilson; sister-in-law, Sharon and Gary Britt; special nieces, Bree-Ellen Lynch, Abby Morgan, and Jennah Lynch; and fur babies, Chilly and Tippy. Sam's family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Wednesday, September 16, 2026 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan. His funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm with Deacon Ben Ronk officiating. Interment will follow in Mays-Kern Cemetery.
