Ray "Sonny" Barger

Ray Allen "Sonny" Barger, 74, of Troutville, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Mary Welch Barger and brother-in-law, Roger Snyder. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Janice K. Barger; children, Steven Ray and Mary Ellen Barger of Buchanan; Amy and Todd Ferguson of Troutville; grandchildren and the apples of his eyes, Kaitlyn Marie Barger, Joshua Todd Ferguson, Wesley Todd Ferguson, and Landon Ray Barger; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Leonard Austin of Buchanan; Brenda and John Lewis of Troutville; and Sherry and Ronnie Ramsey of Buchanan; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Mellie Barger of Buchanan; special cousin, Buddy Hayth; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special caregivers, Rick Huffman and Jackie Lusk. Funeral Services will be held 2 pm, Sunday, July 8, 2012 in the Springwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Clingenpeel officiating. Interment will follow in church cemetery. The family would also like to extend special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospice for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Springwood Baptist Church Building Fund or the Good Samaritan Hospice.
