Paul Leland Lorton

Paul Leland "Bud" Lorton, 71, of Buchanan, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Lee and Lois Geraldine Laird Lorton; his daughters, Jodi Louise Lorton and Betsy Ann Lorton Harris; and his son, Josh Allan Lorton. He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as a General Foreman serving over 30 years. Bud loved fishing, woodworking, birdwatching, and was a jack of all trades. Bud enjoyed his family and all of his grandkids. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Nancy Lee Ruthrauff Lorton; daughters and sons-in-law, Arnie and Molly Lorton Aldridge of Chapel Hill, N.C., Patrick and Becky Lorton Christley of Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Jeremy and Mary Lorton of Roanoke; fifteen grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma Darlene and Lester Dean Dawdy of Roodhouse, Ill., and Betty Ruth and Keith Adrian Painter of Bremerton, Wash.; and numerous nieces; nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Salem Ward, 6311 Wayburn Drive Salem, VA. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 11, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, VA 24066, 540-254-3000.
