Nicolas “Nick” James Lovelace, 49, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2026.
From his roller derby days, “Nick Knack” met Jillian “Patty Whack” on the rink and their lives were forever entangled. When he wasn’t skating, he was surfing, woodburning, cooking, grilling and smoking meats. He also grew exotic peppers, making various salsas and salts. When he wasn’t having fun, he was a skilled electrician running his own operation. Then when Nick had time, he was outdoors enjoying life and catching fish.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Don and Christine Lovelace; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Lois May; mother, Brenda Lovelace; and infant son, Nicolas Wayne Lovelace.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 10 years, Jillian Lovelace; his children, James, Chloe, Leia, and Eliza Lovelace; granddaughter, Ivy Lovelace; father, Wayne Lovelace and step-mother, Cindy; brother, Shannon Lovelace and husband, Michael Anderson; sister, Leann Alford, and husband, Scott; nieces, Kayla (Jonah) Bolton; MacKenzie (Timothy) Bolton; great-nephew, Grayson; and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm on Sunday, November 1, 2026 with memorial services at 4pm at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Turner officiating. For those that knew and loved Nick, knew he loved all things 80s from music to movies. To honor him, the family is requesting people to wear your favorite Band or Star Wars T-shirt and jeans.
