Meghan Elizabeth Hickok

Meghan Elizabeth Hickok, 25, of Buchanan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on February 25, 2026.

Though Meghan faced complex medical issues throughout her life, they never diminished her desire to help others. She was a fierce advocate for those navigating complicated health conditions and a champion for service dog programs. Meghan loved animals of all kinds, cherished the outdoors, and found joy and expression through painting. Her strength, compassion, and perseverance inspired everyone who knew her.

Born and raised in Buchanan, Virginia, Meghan was a graduate of James River High School.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Emily Ann Hickok; her grandparents, Dr. James and Betty Donaghy; and her great-grandmother, Katherine McDuff. She is survived by her loving parents, Bill and Erin Hickok; her brother and his fiancée, Dylan Hickok and Alexandria Schafer; her faithful service dog, Lumos; and her grandmother, Patricia Ann Hickok.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Virginia 24066, with Pastor J. R. Graybill officiating. Interment will be private.
