Mary Fitzgerald Shanks

Mary Madeline Fitzgerald, 90, of Buchanan, Va., passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Shanks Sr.; parents, Buey and Ethel Fitzgerald; and brothers, Ennis, Clarence and Clyde. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Ronnie Ramsey of Natural Bridge Station; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Dana George of Salem; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Lucille Smith of Buena Vista; stepson, Wayne (Doris) Shanks of Buchanan; and stepdaughter, Patsy (Alton) Deacon of Buchanan. The family will receive friends at the Buchanan Chapel of the Botetourt Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, from noon to 1 p.m. followed by a Graveside Service at 2 p.m. at Green Hill Cemetery, Buena Vista.
