Marshall Stuart Stinnett

Marshall Stuart Stinnett, 86, of Buchanan, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Shelton and Rose Goode Stuart Stinnett.

He was retired from Groendyk with 42 years of service, worked at Wattstull Shell for 20 years, and was a member of the Botetourt Funeral Home staff for many years. In his younger days, he worked at Butch Barger's Grocery in town.

Marshall was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served on numerous committees. He was also the Fire Chief for our Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department and ran the french fry stand at the carnival many years.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 65 years, Susanne Delong Stinnett; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Pam Stinnett; grandson, Austin Stinnett and wife, Jordyn; granddaughter, Erin (Corbin); great-grandchildren, Kayce, Baby Stinnett (in November), Baby Sheleheda (in April). Marshall leaves behind a number of friends and extended family as well as lifelong friends, Lindsey and Brenda Stinnett.

A memorial graveside will be held at a later date.
