Margaret Hammit Stinnett

Margaret Hammit Stinnett, 96, of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oly Frank and Jessie Peck Thrasher Hammit; husband, Charles Gilbert Stinnett, and siblings, Ruth Stull, Anna Lee Hess, Frances Rollins, and Norma Wickline. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca Stinnett Lennox of Buchanan, Sara Stinnett (Frederick) Mason of Wytheville, Kathleen Stinnett (Ray) Bennett of Fredericksburg; son, Charles Gilbert Stinnett, Jr. of Buchanan; grandchildren, Bo (Alicia) O'Neal, Sara (Judd) Vowell, Joe (Danielle) Mason, Clay Bennett, and Claire Stinnett; four great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, John and Marian Hammit of Buchanan; sisters, Mary Hammit Hawkins of Buchanan and Doris Hammit Racey of Woodstock. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 28, 2015 in the Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Mitchell officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Monday, April 27, 2015 at Botetourt Funeral Home, 14920 Lee Highway, Buchanan, Va. 24066.
