Luther "Pete" Gunter,

Luther Hillard "Pete" Gunter, Jr., 86, of Buchanan, passed away Thursday, July 5, 2012. He was born on August 11, 1925. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Heldreth Gunter, parents, L. H., Sr. and Bessie Camper Gunter, two sisters, and two brothers. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry L. and Diane Gunter of Max Meadows; grandchildren, Stacy (Barry) Wright, Daniel and Katrina Gunter, Jennifer Gunter and fiance', Joey Carter; Olivia, Jesica, and Natasha; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Fox of Buchanan; Annie B. Gunter of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held 3 pm, Saturday, July 7, 2012 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Woody officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Terry would like to say a special thank you to his aunt, Annie "Boots" Gunter, for her unconditional love and support. The family would also like to extend special thanks to Pete's niece, Ramona J. Keith of Buchanan and Good Samaritan Hospice for their assistance during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buchanan Baptist Church Building Fund or the Good Samaritan Hospice.
