John Wayne Patsel

John Wayne Patsel, 72, of Troutville, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021., battling COVID-19 at U.V.A. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin E. and Mary M. Patsel. Left to cherish his memory are Sandra (Sue) Cochran, Nancy Kellison and Angela Tyree; and grandchildren, Mary Tolley, Nathaniel Crawford, Karah Tyree; and his pride and joy, Melynda Turman (Lil Bit). Other survivors include his brother, Roy (Rita) Patsel; and sisters, Ruth (Stedman) Grubb and Martha (Ron) Porter; as well as extended family and friends. John loved the outdoors, hunting for bear or just listening to the hounds barking on a hot trail. John took a daily trip on his golf cart around the neighborhood to stop for a talk along the way, showing LilBit all about nature. He enjoyed Thursday’s tall tale sessions at Roy’s Garage with friends. As his wishes, he will be cremated with a memorial service in the Spring, which will be announced later.
