Harold Haden Myers, 82, of Troutville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026. He was preceded in passing by his wife of 38 years, Susan Stevens Myers; and parents, David Rudolph Myers and Avis Caldwell Myers.
Harold served in the Army National Guard for 6 years, while working in marketing for Norfolk Southern, from which he retired. After he retired, he was a part-time farmer for many years, alongside his son, Marshall. He was a very good-hearted neighbor; whether it was plowing snow or bush hogging, he was always there to help.
Harold lived a simple life with his four-legged best friend, Sammie, who was so much more than a pet-he was a constant source of comfort, unconditional love, and loyal friendship. Wherever Harold was, Sammie was never far behind, offering support through life’s happiest moments and its greatest challenges. Harold had a dry sense of humor, and his go-to response was “we’ll just have to wait and see.” He was an avid member of Wheatland Lutheran Church and served as an usher, as well as his dedication to the setup and presentation of the Christmon tree. He will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank everyone at The Glebe and Good Samaritan Hospice for their compassionate care of Harold before his passing.
Left to cherish Harold’s memory are his children, Marshall Myers (Kristie), and Susanne Marshall (Matt); grandchildren, Konner and Kayla Myers, and Bryce, Blake, and Madison Marshall; brothers, Danny, Terry, and David Myers; sisters, Shirley Overfelt, and Martha Sicora; and special four-legged friend, Sammie.
The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 3 pm on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at Wheatland Lutheran Church. A funeral service celebrating Harold’s life will follow at 3 pm at the church, with Pastor Phyllis Diamond officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Harold’s honor to Wheatland Lutheran Church, The Glebe, or Good Samaritan Hospice. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.botetourtfh.com or by calling 540-254-3000.
