Gretchen Lucille Baker

Gretchen Lucille Lipes Baker, 85, of Buchanan, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucile Lipes; husband of 66 years, Lawrence Landon Baker; daughter, Susan Alderman; grandson, Benjamin Ty Baker; brothers, Charles, Jr. and wife, Ella; Jack and wife, Danie; and sisters, Dorothy Snead and husband, Bob; Rosalie Watts, and husband, John.

She retired from driving a school bus from Botetourt County Schools with over 31 years of service.

She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Connie Baker, Alan and Diane Baker; grandchildren, Adam Alderman and wife, Tracie, Caleb Baker, Tyler Crosier and wife, Vanessa, Ryan Baker, and wife, Abi, and Allison Baker; great-grandchildren, Marcus and Morgan Baker; son-in-law, David Alderman; sister-in-law, Ina Young; brother-in-law, Phillip Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews; also her special life long friend, Sandra “Bo” Thompson.

Visitation will be held from 1-2pm with funeral services at 2pm on Friday, November 3, 2023 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Nicely officiating.
