Geraldine "Teenie" Elizabeth Edwards Williamson, 97, of Fincastle, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
Born on May 20, 1928, she is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Columbus Edwards and Hazel Pearl Iroler Edwards; step-mother, Blanche Fransico Edwards; husband, Homer B. Williamson of 66 years; and infant daughter, Lisa Kay Williamson.
She was a 1947 graduate of Fincastle High School, Fincastle, Virginia. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority Chapter and a member of the Fincastle Garden Club. "Teenie" worked at Glad Rags in Buchanan, Virginia, Little Gems in Fincastle, Virgina, and 22 years at Halmode Apparel in Roanoke, Virginia, where she retired from the Accounts Payable department. After retirement, "Teenie" went to work for Botetourt County Schools as a Special Needs bus aide, where she enjoyed spoiling the "littles" with her hugs, loving smile and little treat bags to brighten their day. She remained in great health all her life up until the last 8 months when she was diagnosed with skin cancer.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Sweet and son-in-law, Jerry Sweet; son, Barry Williamson and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Williamson; granddaughters, Kim Overstreet (Travis Overstreet) and Sherry Pierce (Dale Pierce); great-grandchildren, Ariel Wood, Madison Overstreet, Tyler Wood and Stephen-Patrick Overstreet; sister, Betty E. Geiger (Ron Geiger) and numerous nieces and nephews, and their extended families.
Geraldine "Teenie" was blessed by many "special friends." Over the last few years you would find her at fish fry's held at Mill Creek Baptist Church where she would be the little greeter and socialize with those who came to pick up their orders. She always enjoyed and looked forward to the Buchanan Carnival where she would sit in the ice cream stand once again, being the little greeter and socializing while the family would volunteer their services dipping up the ice cream. "Teenie" to us is known for her green thumb of gardening, the love of plants; especially violets, canning vegetables; especially the canning of her 14 day pickles, her love of baking, and rounding up the family for old fashioned apple butter making.
