Delores Kaye Pemberton

Delores Kaye (Saunders) Pemberton, 75 of Mays Landing, NJ, formerly of Buchanan VA, was called home on Friday, May 6, 2022. Born 4-08-1947 in Vivian West Virginia, moved to Buchanan VA at the age of 8. Delores was a graduate of Central Academy School Fincastle VA. Graduated from Star Tech Schools fully Accredited program as a Computerized Medical Asst. She was an active in her community & a member of the local NAACP. She joined First Baptist Church, Buchanan, VA at an early age & later became an active member of Mt Zion Baptist Church in Pleasantville, NJ. Delores worked at Peeks of Otter Lodge in Bedford VA. In 1966 relocated to Atlantic City NJ. There she was employed by Prudential Insurance Co for 30 years. Prior to her retirement she last worked at Taj Mahal Casino in Human Resources. Delores was a very caring Mother, grandmother, & great-grandmother, also Mother to many of her children’s friends. She loved to talk, laugh, & enjoy her time with friends & family, as well as supporting all her children & helping to raise her grandchildren & great-granchild. She was always very supportive & gave words of encouragement. She always knew what they wanted or needed & always seemed to purchase the perfect gift. She was always helping others when they needed help, & even kept several people in her home when they was down on their luck. Delores was preceded in death by her Parents, James Earlie Saunders & Ruth (Jones) Saunders, & loving sister Delcinia E (Saunders) Willis. Those left to cherish her memory are Ex-Husband Charles Pemberton Sr NJ; sons, Kevin Pemberton of Mays Landing NJ; son, Charles Pemberton Jr of Brigantine NJ; daughter, LaNita Pemberton of Nashville TN; Sisters Shirley L. Saunders of Buchanan; sister Faye (Clyde) Burks of Roanoke; brother Rev. James (Valerie) Saunders of Goodview. Grandchildren, Dashonn, Kavonna, Amalinally, Tohmir, Jamir, Jasleen, & Jaeleen Pemberton. One great grandchild, Jeicee; & a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, & friends. First Viewing will be held 3pm-5pm Thursday May 19, 2002 at Mt Zion Baptist Church, 353 S. New Rd, Pleasantville NJ 08232 Second Viewing will be held Saturday, May 21st 2022, 11am - 12pm at the Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home 14920 Lee Hwy , Buchanan VA 24066. Services start at 12pm - 1pm Officiating: Elder Randall Jackson, Eulogy, Rev. James Saunders Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Fairview St. Buchanan VA 24066.
