Bernice Dunbar McConnell

Bernice Jane Dunbar McConnell, 83, of Buchanan, passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 1, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell Wayne McConnell; parents, Chan and Daisy Dunbar; brothers, Larry, Carl, Hubert, Jack, Cline, Dennis and David Dunbar; and sisters, Sylvia Wilson and Claudine Jacques.

She enjoyed gardening and canning; making special recipes for her family. Her grandbabies were her life. Anything going on with those kids, she was there.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Greg Childress; grandson, Tyler Childress and wife, Renee; great-grandchildren, Jeania and River; brother, Chan Dunbar, Jr.; sister, Ruby Lemon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 12pm-1pm on Thursday, October 8, 2026 in the Buchanan Chapel of Botetourt Funeral Home. Funeral services will be private.
